Japanese earthquake/tsunami:
The temple is conducting weekly public memorial services to honor victims of the Japanese earthquake/tsunami on Fridays at 5:30 pm through April 29 which marks the traditional 49 day mourning period. Donations collected during the Friday memorial services are going to the America Red Cross.
The temple is a participant in SeattleJapanRelief.org where you can make an immediate on-line donation to the American Red Cross, the YMCA or Peace Winds America. The temple is also collecting donations for a fund coordinated by our mother temple, the Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto Japan. Donations to the Nishi Hongwanji fund may be made by sending a check to the temple made out to the Seattle Betsuin (please note "earthquake/tsunami relief" on your check's memo line). See message on Buddhist Churches of America website for additional information.

To promote, protect and share the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Our ultimate goal is to make your time with us as informative and helpful as possible. Whether you are a long-time member, or a first-time visitor who wants to experience what we have to offer you, we extend a warm welcome. If you come to our Temple, please don't hesitate to ask someone for information. We are here to assist with whatever level of participation you may be seeking. If you are visiting this site to satisfy a curiosity rather than to make a more personal connection, we wish you well and hope you find what you need here.
With this web site, we hope to answer some basic questions that you may have regarding our Temple, including a brief discussion of our history (Who We Are), a description of some of the organizations, the different programs we offer (What We Offer), a short description of our religious services, including some basic temple etiquette (More About Us: The Sunday Morning Service), and a calendar of upcoming events (Event Calendar).
We hope that you enjoy your time with us and consider becoming a part of our religious community known as the Sangha. If you are already a member of the temple, then please let us greet you by saying, "Welcome home."
